Lucas Chess: review and short description

The goal is to play chess against the computer with increasing levels of difficulty and with a limited number of hints given by a chess teacher. Also included are thousands of training positions such as different types of end games, tactical combinations and chess problems (mate in 2,3,4 and more). The computer uses different chess programs (so-called chess engines) of different strength. The user initially starts playing against the weakest engine. Initially, the engine plays with limited power, but as the user wins more games, the engine will get more computing time and its power will improve. Eventually the motor will reach its maximum power and if the user continues to win it will be passed on to the next stronger motor and so on. And even if you think you’re close to winning the next world chess championship, I can promise you that the included chess machines won’t run out so quickly. The strongest engines included in this program (such as Rybka and Stockfish) will give a professional player from the top ten of the world rankings a real run for their money. To overcome a level you have to win twice against the engine, once with the white pieces and once with the black pieces. Your personal point score will increase with every game you win. The higher the level, the more points you will receive for a game won. The engines are arranged in groups. Each group contains engines of comparable strength. The basic rule for engines is that you have to accumulate a lot of points against lower engines until you can play the stronger engines. In detail, this means that each group of engines has a minimum required point score. If you want to play against an engine from a certain group, your personal point score must have reached at least the minimum point score of the group….
