Mnemosyne (named after the Greek goddess of memory, Mnemosyne) is repetitive repetition software developed from 2003 to present. The software is similar to: SuperMemo, commercial software developed by Piotr Wozniak.

Mnemosyne uses an early version of the SuperMemo algorithm, SM-2, with some adjustments related to early and late iterations.

Proponents of staggered repetition software argue that allowing algorithmic planning of learning reviews promotes long-term item memorization.

Mnemosyne also voluntarily collects data from its users. This data is available on request from Bienstman or via BitTorrent, and is a long-term memory research project.
