The Grit X Pro shows what Polar does best in terms of sports tracking and deep data analysis. It’s also a better outdoor watch now that it has more navigation features. The big question is whether or not it is a big enough improvement over the first Grit X. Are the Vantage V2’s new navigation features, extra performance and recovery tests, and sleeker, more durable design enough to make it worth the extra money over its predecessor, especially since some of these new features will also be on the Grit X.

There’s no doubt that it works well, and if you like to run, swim, or go on hikes instead of going to the gym, you’re well taken care of here. You get a pretty accurate heart rate monitor, and you can connect external sensors to get even more accurate information. The GPS tracking is also very good, and even though it doesn’t have as much mapping as Garmin’s Fenix 6 Pro, the Grit X Pro will still help you find your way back home when you’re done exploring.

Polar Grit X Pro review: Design and display
The Grit X Pro has a 47mm stainless steel case that is 13mm thick. It comes with a 22mm fluoroelastomer strap that comes in small and large sizes to make sure you get a good, snug fit. You can get that case in black, gold, or copper, and when you add the band, the whole watch weighs 79g.
The main difference between this and the original Grit X is the new look of the bezel, which Polar says has deco details and numbers and compass icons to make it look a bit more outdoorsy. It’s still a watch that’s waterproof up to 100 meters and has been tested to MIL-STD810G military standards to make sure it can handle rough use. You can buy this watch from its official website.
Polar Grit X Pro review: Software and features
The top and bottom buttons on the right move through the menus, so you don’t have to swipe the touchscreen to move through the menus and watch faces. On the dashboard, you can switch between 13 watch faces, which give you access to different menus.
These include an altimeter and compass, a dusk-to-dawn timer, a weather monitor, a general activity monitor, and the HR tracker. You might not need everything here, but you can choose what you want to see on the dashboard in the settings.
Polar Grit X Pro review: Sports Tracking
The Pro comes with the Grit X. So there are lots of sports modes, new features for the outdoors like Hill Splitter, and great reminders to fill up with FuelWise. This feature works for activities that last longer than 90 minutes. It looks at how hard you’re working and how many grams of carbs you have to help you get the right amount of fuel.
It’s a feature that other watches don’t have right now, so it really sets Polar apart from the rest. You get the same strong satellite support for accurately tracking outdoor activity, as well as performance-driven insights like Training Load Pro and Polar’s useful FitSpark workout suggestions. This watch will give you a lot of information, so it might take you a while to figure out what information is most important to you.
Polar Grit X Pro review: Battery life
That is better than Polar’s Vantage M2 and Ignite 2, whose 230mAh and 165mAh batteries, respectively, give you about five days of use per charge. The Grit X Pro’s battery is a bit bigger, at 346mAh. We don’t work out a lot. We go for three 30-minute runs a week and do some weight lifting and cardio at home in between.
That’s not quite enough for me to say if Polar’s claim that you can track your heart rate and GPS continuously for 40 hours is true or not. What we can say is that if you work out like we do, which is not too hard, you will easily get around seven days. The Grit X Pro’s battery hit 12% on the last day of my first week, and the watch kept begging me to charge it.
Polar Grit X Pro review: Price and release date
The standard Grit X Pro, which comes in black, copper, and gold, costs £449, and the Grit X Pro Titan, which comes in titanium, costs £519. The standard Grit X Pro costs $499.90 in the United States, while the Grit X Pro Titan edition costs $599.95.
A Polar Grit X Pro costs about AU$749 in Australia, and a Polar Grit X Pro Titan costs about AU$899. At the time of writing, you could also buy the Polar Grit X Pro from Amazon UK for a bit less, for £439. However, there were no Grit X Pro Titans for sale on Amazon.
Final Words
The Polar Grit X Pro is a better outdoor watch than the original Grit X. It also makes a better training partner because it has features from the Vantage V2. It costs more than its predecessor because it is more durable and has more software features.
Some of the new Pro features are also coming to the first Grit X. But if you want the best outdoor watch that Polar has to offer, you should wear this one.
