You may remember that the creator of Android Ruby went to Essential last November. Rubin, who founded the company behind Essential Phone, reportedly launched his latest project on a brewing scandal involving an "inappropriate relationship" he would have had with a company employee while working for Google.
today New York Times goes deeper after Google left Ruby almost four years ago. According to the newspaper, what Google had not revealed at the time,
was that the executive had an extramarital affair with an employee who claimed Ruby forced him to practice oral sex in a hotel room in 2013. Google has investigated the charges and found them credible, according to sources that wanted to remain anonymous signed confidentiality agreements. The co-founder of the company, Larry Page, Google's then CEO, asked for a resignation from Rubin.
While Google used the incident to fire Rubin and withhold significant release payments, the company let him resign and gave him $ 90 million, payable over 48 months. The payment in November will be the last Google will put under Rubin's exit from the company. Google has invested millions of dollars in its next project. A spokesperson for Rubin said that "any relationship that Mr. Rubin had with Google was unanimous and did not involve anyone directly."
the Time Rubin is one of three Google executives accused of sexual inadequacy. Two unknown executives were released, but Google paid millions of dollars to each of them, although it was not required by law. And just as we were preparing these elements, Google announced that it had dismissed 48 people, including 13 executives, on charges of sexual harassment over the past two years.
