Apple invests to save Colombian mangrove forest

Apple's mission is to rescue the endangered mangrove forest.

The mangrove forest draws a large amount of carbon dioxide into the air. Half of the world's mangrove forests have been lost since 1940, but Apple has invested in the major to protect Colombian forests and cope with climate change.

Apple announced that it invested in mangroves on Colombian coast to offset the emissions of Apple Maps cars sold worldwide. Mangrove protection and restoration plan in 27,000 acres of forest.

In the next two years forests will offset 17,000 tons of emissions. It is about the same as the emissions that his car releases in the next decade.

Save Mangrove

Lisa Jackson, vice president of Apple's environmental, policy and social initiative, made this plan clear to the audience at the World Summit on Climate Action this morning.

"These forests are essential because they are one of the most important tools of nature in the fight against climate change and can absorb and store ten times more carbon than the forest on the ground.Jackson

Mangroves have the highest density of carbon stocks among all habitats on Earth. They store carbon in branches and leaves like most trees, but they flick the carbon in the soil through the roots in the water. Climate change experts believe that protection and regeneration of mangrove forests is one of the most important ways mankind cools the earth after carbon emissions lead to global warming.

"Today, I am here to explicitly tell you that there is no contradiction between a healthy planet and a healthy result:" It is a mistaken choice and it must be dismissed "

This is not the first time Apple invested in the forest. In 2015, the company now purchases 36 thousand acres of privately owned forest that was logged in a sustainable way and used for all packaging.
