Apple issues first public betas of iOS 12.1, tvOS 12.1

Apple provided a public beta of iOS 12.1 and tvOS 12.1 for testing just two days after the first developer of the new test cycle was released.

First-time public beta version can be downloaded by registered user of test program from Apple Beta Software website. Functionally, the contents of the public beta should be similar to those of developers of the latest version released on Monday.

The main addition to the beta version of the publicly available version of iOS 12.1 developer is the return of Group FaceTime, which allows 32 people to join the video conference with the support of MeMojis. This feature was included in the beta version of iOS 12, but it was deleted before the final version. Apple is going to release it with a later update.

AppleInsiderInstalling a beta version on mission critical hardware like Apple can not do as data may be lost. Those interested in beta testing should back up all important data before using the secondary device to install or run the update.
