Apple has chosen a Christmas musical starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds for its Apple TV + video streaming service. Acc to the Hollywood Reporter, the film is a reimagination of Charles Dickens’ classic book, A Christmas Carol. Sean Anders and John Morris, who previously worked with Ferrell on Daddy’s Home’s films, are committed to the film.
The title of the film and the specific roles of Reynolds and Ferrell have yet to be revealed. In his original report on the film last month, The Hollywood Reporter said that several studios were bidding for the film. Although the specific terms of the Apple deal were not disclosed, The Hollywood Reporter notes that the movie was eventually awarded to the technology giant because it “acted aggressively to the extent that it seeks to have an impact on the space of the original features.”
This would not be Reynolds’ lead role in the significant production of streaming services. The comedian from Vancouver will also star in Netflix’s film 6 Underground, an action thriller by Transformers director Michael Bay, which debuts on December 13th.
