Design

Most people ask themselves “Should I wait for AirPods 2 or get the original AirPods now?” when they think about getting earbuds to pair with their Apple devices. You may think it’s a good idea to wait because AirPods 2 will have a different look. Having those instead of the current ones will allow you to flaunt their new gadgets with ease.
If this is your purpose, you should save yourself the wait and get the ones in the market. This is because AirPods 2 will have the same design as the previous ones. Apple figures that people love the simple look of the AirPods and that changing the design would impact sales.
Worry not, though, as there are rumors about a black option available soon after its release. This will provide you with a different color palette if you want a refreshing look. It also allows for other palettes to come.

Charging and Battery Life

When you buy the new AirPods, you have a choice to make. The first option you have is to keep the traditional charging case for the AirPods. This is a great choice for familiarity and charging speed.

The charging case gets an upgrade by charging your AirPods faster. The design is the same as the previous AirPod’s case. Despite this, though, it doesn’t mean you can use the same cord from the original AirPods, though.

Thesecond option is a wireless charging case. This is a new product that Apple seeks to test in place of the wireless charging mat they discontinued. How this will work depends on whether you have a compatible charging mat.

All you need to do is place the case on the mat and it will charge the AirPods for you. You can also plug the wireless case if you don’t have a compatible charging mat.

Regardless of what you choose, you can charge your earbuds in next to no time. It only takes 15 minutes to get a charge that can last up to 3 hours.

The fast charging and extended battery power are all thanks to a new chip that the AirPods 2 uses. It extends the battery life by 50% more compared to the previous AirPods.

The New H1 Chip

As mentioned above, the Apple AirPods 2 receives a new chip as its main upgrade from the first AirPods. The new chip isn’t new in production, it’s only new for the AirPods. This is because it’s the same chip that they use on the Apple Watch 3.
The H1 chip is a direct upgrade from the W1 chip in that it provides better wireless connectivity for the AirPods 2. This makes it possible for the new AirPods to do more with voice commands. It’s because of the H1 chip that you can activate Siri by saying “Hey Siri” or anything to that effect.
This also makes it easier for the new AirPods to connect to your device. Better wireless connectivity will also make it easier to switch between different devices in the area.

Biometric Sensors

Apple announced that the new AirPods will also have biometric sensors installed in them. This is to answer to their customer’s demands to be like the Apple Watch. This will keep track of specific things in your body.
This will include your heart rate, body temperature, and the steps you’ve taken during the day. It will also report its findings to you by the end of the day. This will allow you to stay in shape and keep yourself healthy.

Sound Quality

There haven’t been any official announcements or guarantees about the sound quality of the new Apple AirPods. This leads people to speculate that there will be no change in the sound quality of the new AirPods. It isn’t a total loss, though, as the old AirPods have a good sound quality to work off of.
What’s great is that there are official announcements about the new microphone for the AirPods 2. The y’re said to have clearer microphones to allow for better calls with your peers. What’s great is that you can use one ear for listening and one ear for music.

Noise Cancellation

The new AirPods also have a new feature that blocks ambient sound. This allows you to focus on your call or whatever you’re listening to. You can enable this feature by tapping on specific buttons on your AirPods.
There are also more features that you can access with the tap gesture. You can change tracks, control volume levels, and activate Siri by tapping on your AirPods.

Additional Features

As with the original AirPods, you can connect them to your MacBook. The method will remain untouched with the new ones, so learning how to connect AirPods to MacBook or other Apple devices will be easy if you already know how to do it.

Once you connect them to your MacBook, you can do an array of cool tricks with your AirPods. You can control Spotify and connect to your Apple Watch this way. You can also control your Apple TV with your AirPods once you connect it.
You can also use this to track your lost earbud and even announce to whoever’s wearing it. Controlling Siri is also possible this way.

You can also make your AirPods act as hearing aids. There are more features available for AirPods once you connect them to your MacBook.
