As we all heard, Netflix will lose its license to stream the comedy film “Friends” at the end of the year. This is a disappointment because Friends is one of the most popular sitcoms of the time and remains very popular until today.
However, there is good news for those who loved their sitcoms at the time. Indeed, even if Netflix may lose his friends, they will win another classic sitcom and very popular in the form of “Seinfeld.” Theseries will arrive on the Netflix platform by 2021 with a new license agreement that Netflix has signed with Sony for five years.
In a statement by Ted Sarandos, Netflix content manager, “Seinfeld is the television comedy to which any television comedy is compared. It’s as fresh and fun as ever and will be available to the world in 4K for the first time. We look forward to welcoming Jerry, Elaine, George, and Kramer to their new international site on Netflix.”
Hulu is currently Seinfeld’s rights holder until 2021, but will soon switch to the Netflix platform. The Hollywood Reporter quotes sources claiming that the deal would be worth up to $ 500 million and will cover global rights, which means that Netflix subscribers around the world should not have a problem with distributing it as soon as it is published.
