YouTube Adds HDR Support For iPhone 11 Pro And Pro Max

YouTube has updated its iOS app to support HDR on the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max. The Google-owned online video streaming platform supports iPhone HDR video from iPhone X but requires updates to support new hardware.

Now the latest version of the app includes support for playing HDR videos on the latest Apple phones. To take advantage of this feature, be sure to update YouTube through the App Store. Once you’re done, tap the three dots in the top right corner of a video and make sure to select the desired HDR broadcast option (for example, 1080p60 HDR). Unfortunately, not all new iPhones have access to HDR.

This feature is only available on the Apple devices marketed since 2017 with OLED displays. This means that all iPad models, as well as the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR, do not have HDR.
