Apple faced numerous scandals over the privacy of Siri users, so many customers may want to delete their Siri history on their Apple devices. Here’s how to do it.
Why You Should Delete Your Siri History
Last year, it was revealed that human contractors were listening to recordings from Siri to improve the service. But some of these recordings contained sensitive or private information. To address these concerns, Apple added enhanced privacy features to its mobile, TV and desktop operating systems that allow you to delete your Siri data, and choose not to let Apple use your voice data to improve Siri.
How to Delete Siri Data
To delete your data, first, update your Apple device to iOS 13.2, iPadOS 13.2, watchOS 6.1, tvOS 13.2 and macOS Catalina 10.15.1. Then follow the steps below depending on your device.
- On iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, launch the Settings app, tap Siri & Search, then tap Siri & Dictation History, and select Delete Siri and Dictation History.
- On Mac, launch System Preferences, click on Siri, and then select Delete Siri & Dictation History.
- On Apple Watch, launch the Settings app, tap Siri, then tap Siri History, and select Delete Siri History.
- On HomePod, go to the HomePod settings in the Home app, select Siri History, and then select Delete Siri History.
- On Apple TV, go to Settings, select General, then Siri History, and select Siri and Delete Dictation History.
Opt Out of Siri Analytics
When you update your device to iOS 13.2 or later, you’ll be asked if you want to share your Siri and dictation data with Apple to help improve the service. If you want to withdraw your consent, go to the Privacy section of the Settings app and toggle off Siri & Enhance Dictation.
If you want to know more about Apple’s Siri policies, you can read About Siri & Dictation Analysis under the Analytics & Enhancements section in the Settings app. Enjoy using Siri with more privacy and control.
