Head First Java was the first Java related book that I read, around three years ago. This is an excellent book, and you should read it. This book must be updated with all the recent changes, but it’s a must-have book for everybody to understand OOPS concepts, and compare than another programming book it’s absorbing.
2. Java: The Complete Reference (9th Edition)
This book contains everything you need to become a master of java programming language. You can keep this book as a relating. But I think it is not a good book for complete beginners but if you want to learn beyond the basics, then this is the great book.
3. Core Java Volume I — Fundamentals (9th Edition)
This is again a reference book that contains a detailed explanation of different features of Core Java. I prefer it better than the full Reference because of several reasons – it’s not from Oracle, it’s easy to read and under thousands of pages.
4. Java: A Beginner’s Guide (Sixth Edition)
As the name suggests, its book for someone with basic knowledge of programming wanting to learn java programming language. It’s written by “Herbert Schildt” and covers all the basic concepts of Core Java.
