Hybrid laptops are always popular, and options in the market are growing with every new launch. They are light, easy to carry, and compact. Most of the 2-in-1 laptops that are available are equipped with Windows 10. There are exceptions such as the Cube iWork 1X that works on both Windows and Android, but which are not easily accessible on a conventional level. The trend in the market, for now anyway, shows that the ordinary convertible laptops from Microsoft are.
However, not all 2-in-1 laptops are the same. Some are bundled with styluses as neat little design-oriented decorations, while others are free of bells and whistles. At the same time, you will notice that particular Best 2-in-1 Laptops use 360-degree hinges while the rest use detachable screens, independent of their physical keyboards.

HP Spectre x360 13
The best 2-in-1 laptop
- CPU: Core i5/Core i7
- GPU: Intel Iris Plus
- RAM: 8GB/16GB
- Storage: 256GB/512GB/1TB
- Display: 13.3-inch, 1080p or 4K
- Size: 12.1 x 7.7 x 0.7 inches
- Weight: 2.7 pounds
The Spectre x360 13 is the best 2-in-1 laptop ever. Updated with a 10th generation CPU and a more modern design, the Spectre x360 13 has improved in almost every way over its excellent predecessor. Highlights of this laptop include a beautiful design that flaunts faceted edges and beveled corners. Those precision-cut details make the Spectre look more like a piece of jewelry than a gadget. Along with that, stunning design is a clear 1080p display, epic 13+ hours of battery life, and fast overall performance.
There’s almost nothing the Spectre x360 13 doesn’t do well, although the speakers could use some tuning. We set the Spectre x360 13 up against some of our other favorite 2-in-1 laptops, including the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 and Lenovo Yoga C940, but none of these great competitors could dethrone the HP.
Lenovo Yoga C940
The best 14-inch laptop
- CPU: Up to Intel Core i7-1065G7
- GPU: Intel Iris Plus
- RAM: Up to 16GB
- Storage: Up to 2TB
- Display: 14-inch, 1080p or 4K
- Size: 12.6 x 8.5 x 0.6 inches
- Weight: 3.1 pounds
With the Yoga C940, Lenovo took a proven formula and refined it. Subtle design improvements, longer battery life (up to 11:46), and updated 10th generation Intel processors make the Yoga C940 a worthy successor to last year’s excellent Yoga C930. As you would expect from a Yoga series laptop, the C940 has a premium, ultra-portable chassis and a unique hinge that also serves as a soundbar speaker. As a 2-in-1, that hinge can rotate 360 degrees to turn the Yoga C940 into a real tablet.
When it comes to viewing content, the Yoga C940’s 1080p and 4K displays are clear, vibrant and vibrant — beware, the UHD display takes the battery out of sight. For the basics, my favorite things about the Yoga C940 are the extra features. These include a webcam cover (no more tape needed), a slot for the included stylus, and a fingerprint sensor.
Dell XPS 13 2-in-1
Another fantastic alternative
- CPU: Intel Core i3/Core i5/Core i7

- Display: 13.4-inch, 1920 x 1200 or 4K
- Size: 11.7 x 8.2 x 0.5 inches
- Weight: 2.9 pounds
The new XPS 13 2-in-1 is one of the best 2-in-1 laptops available today. It is ridiculously sleek, offers strong performance thanks to the 10th generation Intel Core processor, and has a beautiful 16:10 display that radiates over 500 nits of brightness. In addition to having a sequential hinge, it also features a variable torque that allows the lid to be lifted open without the machine wobbling or moving. Combine that with its 0.3~0.5-inch thin chassis; the XPS 13 2-in-1 is easily one of the best 2-in-1 laptops you can buy.
Microsoft Surface Book 3
The one to splurge on
- CPU: Intel Core i7-1065G7

- RAM: 32GB
- Storage: 512GB
- Display: 15-inch, 3240 x 2160-pixel
- Size: 13.5 x 9.9 x 0.9 inches
- Weight: 4.2 pounds
The 15-inch version of Microsoft’s Surface Book 3 is a stunning technical performance that packs a powerful Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU into the basics of a detachable 2-in-1. With that kind of graphics power, you can edit 4K videos or create professional 3D animations while connected to the keyboard and then turn off the screen for drawing or taking notes. Surface Book 2 also features a brilliant PixelSense screen, a powerful Intel 10th Gen Core i7 CPU, and over 11 hours of battery life in laptop mode.
Microsoft Surface Pro 7
The best detachable 2-in-1 laptop
- CPU: 10th Gen Intel Core i5/Core i7
- GPU: Intel Iris Plus
- RAM: 4GB/8GB/16GB
- Storage: 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB
- Display: 12.3-inch, 2736 x 1824-pixel
- Size: 11.5 x 7.9 x 0.3 inches
- Weight: 1.7 pounds/2.4 pounds (with keyboard)
The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 felt like a side issue when Microsoft unveiled its latest fleet of Surface products. The lack of attention for this flagship was partly due to the more exciting products that Microsoft had at hand, such as the Surface Pro X and the Surface Laptop 3. Another reason is that Surface Pro 7 is almost identical to its predecessor, the Surface Pro 6.
Surface Pro 7 retains the same aesthetic ingredients as its predecessors. Despite all the praise we have given the design over the years, it is time for a new recipe. Apart from the new USB-C port on the side, Surface Pro 7 has almost the same aesthetic as the Surface Pro 6. Being available in matte black and silver, the Surface Pro 7 is a slender magnesium slate with a glossy Microsoft logo on the backlog. Overall, this is one of the best 2-in-1 laptops on the market.
HP Envy x360 13
The best 2-in-1 laptop under $1000
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 4500U
- GPU: AMD Radeon Graphics
- RAM: 8GB
- Storage: 256GB
- Display: 13.3-inch, 1080p
- Size: 12.1 x 7.7 x 0.7 inches
- Weight: 2.9 pounds
The HP Envy x360 13 is the best under $1,000 laptop and one of the best 2-in-1 laptops on the market. Although it doesn’t come with a stylus (nor does the Surface Pro), the Envy is a 2-in-1 so you can flip it over in tent or tablet mode. What makes this such a great value is the all-aluminum design and Herculian AMD Ryzen processors. In our tests, we discovered that an Envy x360 13 with a Ryzen 5 4500U CPU could outperform laptops with 10th generation Intel chips.
This particular Envy costs just $800 and can outperform laptops costing over $1,000, including the exorbitant MacBook Pro. Plus, the Envy x360 13 features a bright, vibrant 13.3-inch display and a comfortable keyboard. There’s little we don’t like about the Envy x360. If you can get over the lack of a Thunderbolt 3 port and IR camera, it’s the ultimate money-saving laptop.

Lenovo took a chance with the ThinkPad X1 Yoga, the first metal ThinkPad, and it paid off. While we still love the distinctive matte-black carbon fiber found on most ThinkPads, the aluminum and magnesium ThinkPad X1 Yoga is an excellent change of pace. Not only does it have a sleek design, but this convertible 2-in-1 shows off a clear display and offers a best-in-class keyboard and long battery life. But the Elite Dragonfly’s greatness doesn’t stop there. It also features a surprisingly comfortable keyboard, fast performance, and a host of security features, including an IR camera, fingerprint sensor, and the durability of the MIL-SPEC-810.
