2020: Best Open World Games for 2020

Open World Games – We all are in the golden age of open-world gaming, sprawling sandboxes where gamers choice rules above everything else. There are stories, missions, quests, and goals, but players are open to complete them at their speed. From fantasy of realms to the simulated galaxies, from modern towns to post-apocalypse wastelands, the open world games give gamers the freedom to decide their path—to do what they want, when they want—and provide an exciting and rewarding setting for their self-guided adventures.

Here is our list of the 2020: Best Open World Games for 2020

Best Open World Games – List

Forza Horizon 3

Forza Horizon 3 is for sure a racing game, but it’s not only just a racing game. It’s a huge game full of city streets, natural beaches, green forests, and deserts, which represents a condensed but big enough slice of Australia’s Outer area. Its vast and diverse terrain gives us lots to do: races, stunt jumps, challenges, collectible hunts, and not to miss the hundreds of different cars to play with. Forza Horizon 3 is one of 2020 Updated: Best game of an already excellent series regarding size, variety, scope, and enjoyment.

Stalker: Shadow Of Chernobyl

In this game, the open world is your opponent. Gamma pockets and radioactive storms can kill you in moments. Any building can hide hunters or horrifying mutated beasts. Ammo and armor are scarce, and you’re lost in a wasteland so bleak as to be almost entirely separating. But as the Stalkers remember, the Zone has a strange charm. Explore the wrecked husks of Ukranian facilities and apartment blocks, and try not to be too frightened by the dead quiet. After a while, Stalker’s waste becomes beautiful.

Grand Theft Auto 5

Creating a sort of pastiche of a real-world situation that’s so stopicgeringly authentic in atmosphere and details that it’s better than standing in the real thing. Los Santos represents the precise approach Rockstar gave in the GTA 4 and brought it to the level of 2004’s San Andreas—and the result is an open world stopice of such a high standard that Rockstar itself only likely top it. Between GTA 5’s strong multi-protopiconist campaign and the mad playground of GTA Online, there are well over 100 hours of pursuits and gunfights across the land, air, and sea for those who want it here.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

An exceptional technological masterpiece, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the vanguard of a new stream of open world games able to challenge the power of modern gaming laptops to create environments of excellent detail and scope. The bogs of Velen are a pensive aperitif that primes you for the bustle of Novigrad and the huge forests of the Nordic Skellige realm—one of the most impressive game locations ever. You can spend hours roaming around those lands, stumbling upon searches, breaking curses, slaying monsters and playing Gwent with rough locals.

Elite: Dangerous

Only a few open world games are as open, and vast, like that of Elite: Dangerous. Navigate your spaceship through the whole of the simulated Milky Way, battling pirates, mining asteroids, moving and trading goods, or simply searching undiscovered stars, planets, and solar systems. Whether you prefer to play solo or join a combined online galaxy with other gamers, you’re sure to experience adventure among Elite’s 400 billion solar systems.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag

Assassin’s Creed’s best outing since 2, the Black Flag masterfully merges toe-to-toe swashbuckling with sailing in a glowing Caribbean archipelago. Tiny islands, forts, whales, and colonial armadas produce the variation on the ocean, and the sizeable lands host traditional free-running Assassin’s Creed life. After an unfortunate third part in the series, Black Flag was a well-seasoned lungful of fresh air.

The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind

Exploring across Morrowind is a lot like touring one of that replica of Victorian streets—yes, it’s a bit brownish, the technology is old-fashioned, and for some reason, everything emanates of must—but it feels so original. A glimpse into other world frozen in time, alien and yet familiar. Morrowind bridges the difference between modern, polished but detached 3D blockbusters and the beautiful, characterful roleplaying games.

Metal Gear Solid 5

Metal Gear Solid 5 comes as an open world game once you stop using the helicopter to get to each mission and work your way into each of the two vast landscapes (The Angola-Zaire border and Afghanistan) picking off Side operations like an RPG. Kojima Productions’ stealth action game favors real freedom of approach, and its succession systems adequately reward the gamer, too. You start by head shotting enemies with a struggling pistol and end by pulling enemies towards you with a robot hand, sticking tanks on balloons, and summoning in airstrikes on bears.

Mad Max

There’s an absolute dismal beauty to a ruined and decaying world, and the wasteland of Mad Max is loaded with horrible, yet somehow lovely sights. From wrecked industrial landscapes to remote deserts to lakes of toxic mud, the world is a nasty and evocative place to explore. Plus, you get to race through it all in an open car, spike-covered as you battle against the roving gangs of War Boys, Buzzards, and other speed freaks.

Far Cry 4

After the success of Far Cry 2, the series has promoted gunfights across lounging open world scenes, from Africa to the Himalayas. Far Cry 2’s setting, the systems-driven path to action series and the impressive buddy mode made it a critic’s darling. It’s great, but Far Cry’s stealth systems have developed since then, and the addition of co-op and some spectacular terrain in Far Cry 4 earns it a place in our 2020: Best Open World Games for 2020.
