Guide: Disable Screenshot Notification Banners and Sounds in OneDrive: Guide
OneDrive is fantastic when it comes to syncing things up, and it’s my go-to cloud storage for almost everything, except when I use Google Docs. And I also love it when OneDrive automatically takes screenshots and names them in order so I can easily find what I’m looking for.
But those annoying banner notifications that show up up when grabbing a screenshot? Not so much. They’re big distractions that take ages to disappear, not to mention that subsequent screenshots taken in quick succession also show the damn stuff. And the sound that accompanies them is even worse!
Fortunately, it takes almost no time to turn off these annoying notifications – both banners and sounds – and I’m going to show you how. And if you hate OneDrive’s screen capture hijacking functionality, I’ll show you too how to turn that off too.
There is also a handy one tip at the end that you might find insanely useful, so don’t miss out!

Windows 10’s Notifications & Actions panel makes it easy to view and manage notifications for installed apps on your PC, so you should be able to turn off OneDrive’s annoying notifications immediately.
And to make it even better, you can also choose to turn off banner notifications only while the sounds remain intact, or vice versa. So let’s see how.
Step 1: Open the Action Center and click All Settings.
Step 2: In the Settings window, click System.
Step 3: Click the Notifications and Actions option on the left side of the Settings screen.
Step 4: Scroll down and click on the option labeled OneDrive.
Note: You can simply turn off the switch next to OneDrive and block all OneDrive banner notifications and sounds completely. However, doing this will also disable Action Center notifications, so it’s always better to fine-tune your notifications to make sure you don’t miss anything important.
Step 5: Use the switches next to Show notification banners and Play a sound when a notification arrives to turn off banner notifications, sounds, or both.
However, turning off notification banners will also prevent other useful notifications from appearing up – such as the one you receive when you run out of storage space, for example.
Either way, you should still be getting notifications for your Action Center, so make sure to check this regularly to stay up to date.
But if you also hate OneDrive’s Action Center notifications, just turn off the toggle next to the Show notifications in Action Center option to turn that off too. I don’t recommend it though!

While you can turn off OneDrive’s screenshot notifications and sounds quite easily, you may not like that it hijacked the PrtScn button all together. If so, you can choose to prevent OneDrive from automatically taking screenshots in the future.
And no, you don’t have to resort to pasting content into Paint or any other application to save your screenshots afterwards, and you’ll learn all about that in the next section!
Step 1: Click OneDrive in the system tray. On the pop-up click the Ellipsis icon, then click Settings.
Step 2: Click the AutoSave tab and uncheck the box next to Automatically save screenshots I captured on OneDrive.
When you are done, click OK to save your changes.
That is it! OneDrive will not automatically capture and save your screenshots from now on. And that also means no more annoying screenshot notifications, so you can enable them to receive everything important regarding OneDrive.
back to menu ↑Bonus Tip: Native Screen Capturing
If you’ve turned off OneDrive’s auto-capturing screenshots feature, consider using this cool version instead of relying on manually pasting and saving your screenshots. tip to easily save them instead.
Just press Windows-PrtScn, and Windows 10 should automatically save your screenshot, complete with no annoying notifications to boot! You will find them stored in chronological order in the Pictures folder of your user account.
Note: Your screen should dim briefly to indicate a successful screen capture, but it’s not annoying.
Sounds good, right? There is one small drawback, however. You cannot combine this keystroke with the Alt key to capturing individual application windows, which can prove to be tricky at times. But other than OneDrive, this is the next best way to automatically take screenshots without installing third-party apps.

OneDrive’s screenshot notifications are a mess. Microsoft really has to come up with a better way to notify people instead of a huge pop-up banner that takes ages to disappear. Not to mention a horrible sound that really makes you jump if you’re not prepared!
While it’s very easy to get rid of it, you also run the risk of missing important notifications related to OneDrive, so make sure to check the Action Center regularly.
And if you choose to turn off OneDrive’s screen capture functionality altogether, don’t forget to use that nifty keystroke I mentioned above to still automatically save your screenshots!
