How to Add Picture Password into Google Forms – Guide
This “all or nothing” dilemma exists with Google Forms. The forms are public (anyone can fill them out) or you can make forms available to everyone in your company if you use Google Apps. It is not feasible, however, to limit access to forms to specific individuals. Another flaw is that Google Forms doesn’t support passwords or CAPTCHAs, which can allow spam bots to fill your forms with arbitrary data. The reCAPTCHA project is maintained by Google, although no interaction with Google Forms is currently planned. However, there is a workaround.
Google Forms does not enable CAPTCHA, but it does allow you to include photos in your queries. These can be used as passwords for photos. The concept is straightforward. We added a multiple choice question where the user must choose an image from a group of photos. If users choose the appropriate image, the main form will be displayed; otherwise, an error message will appear. These photos are also shuffled so that each respondent’s answer is in a different location.
How to Create Google Forms with Image Passwords
Take a look at the Google Form example and you will get the idea.
Open a new Google Form and create 3 sections. The first section will have the password from the image, the second section will contain the error message, and the last section will have the actual questions you want to ask users who have passed the anti-spam test.
In the first section, create a multiple choice question and attach a different image to each choice. Make this question mandatory and enable question shuffle. Also enable the “Go to section based on answer” option of the section so that only valid answers are taken to the main form.
For each choice that is not valid, choose “Go to Section 2” (see screenshot) and choose “Go to Section 3” for the right choice. In section 2, do not add any questions other than the error message in the section description. Also set “Go to section 1” after section 2 so the user cannot go to main section 3 without passing the image test.
Run the Google Form live and respondents will only see the main survey if they have resolved the issue in section 1. You should also check out another technique for restricting access to Google Forms with passwords.
