How to check your RAM in Windows 7 and 10

Before we approach how to find out how much RAM your Windows computer has, make sure you understand what RAM is and how it works. You should also understand the differences between it and hard drives or SSDs before proceeding.

Check your total RAM capacity

Before determining if you have a problem with RAM – including, “I don’t have enough!” – you must find out how much is already in your system.

  • Click on the Windows Start menu and type System Information.
  • A list of search results appears. up, among which is the system information utility. Click on it.
  • Scroll down to Installed Physical Memory (RAM) and see how much memory is installed in your computer.
