If you are an avid user of Google services, you may be familiar with the Google bar. It’s the common toolbar at the top of Google services like Gmail and Calendar with options and notifications. Plus, it comes with a Google services launcher. An icon that on its own looks like a grid of icons.
You may also be familiar with Chrome apps. The Chrome based apps that are sometimes nothing more than a website but run in their own windows. However, some of them are pretty useful and we’ve highlighted the best Chrome apps here.
To access things like Google Drive or Maps, this one features are incredibly useful. What if you could access both whenever you wanted? What if both menus are displayed? up on the Chrome toolbar, where all the extensions are located?

First, let’s bring the product changer to the toolbar. You can download the extension here. When you click the extension icon, up the traditional product changer, straight from the web.
It looks like it’s really just a web component packed into the drop-down window, although it took quite a bit of time to load at first. Or maybe it’s just my slow internet.
Anyway, here you’ll see shortcuts for Google services like Gmail, Drive, YouTube, News, Play Store and more.

But what if you want to launch apps for things like Keep, Wunderlist, or Google Docs without going to the new tab page? Try the Apps Launcher extension. It shows all installed Chrome apps in one long list.
And unlike the extension above, it is fast and customizable. Right-click on the extension button and select Options. Here you only get one option. You can switch from the current view to a smaller view without labels. Having a lot of apps can mean less scrolling.

A few months ago, Google went all out and removed a lot of useful functionality from the new tab page in the name of their new design standard. It was now just one big search bar, accompanied by your most visited pages.
If you miss it (like me) you can try to get it back with the extension New Tab Reloaded. What makes this extension really useful is that it allows you to enable the recently closed tabs and other device pages feature of the options.
And of course show all Chrome apps up when you open a new tab is also very useful.
