  • In the lower right corner of the screen, right-click on the network icon in the taskbar and select the option “Open Network and Internet Settings”.
  • Click “Change adapter options” and double-click your network.
  • In the window that opens, select “Properties” at the bottom, locate and double-click on the entry labeled “Internet Protocol Version 4”.

  • This will open yet another window showing how your IP address and DNS server are being obtained. Set to “Use the following DNS server address” at the bottom.
  • For preferred DNS server type “8.8.8.8” and for alternate DNS server type “8.8.4.4” and press OK.

  • Press the Windows key on the keyboard.
  • Click Settings.
  • Choose Network and Internet.
  • Scroll down and click Change adapter options.
  • Right-click your active network adapter and select Properties.
  • In the Properties window, scroll down until you see Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box next to it.
  • Click OK to save the changes.
  • To see if the fix worked, you may need to restart your computer.
  • Turn off 5GHz bandwidth or change wireless channel

Not to be confused with 5G, 5GHz refers to the frequency of your WiFi router. Basically, the frequency of your router determines its overall speed relative to its range. Compared to 2.4GHz, a 5GHz frequency allows for faster speeds in a shorter range. If you think your 5GHz bandwidth is affecting your internet connection, you can choose to disable 5GHz so your device automatically switches to 2.4GHz.

  • Press the Windows key on the keyboard.
  • Click Settings.
  • Choose Network and Internet.
  • Scroll down and click Change adapter options.
  • Right-click your active network adapter and select Properties.
  • On the upper right side of the Properties window, click Configure.
  • Open the Advanced tab and select the property called Wireless Mode.
  • Click the Value drop-down menu on the right and set the mode to 802.11b/g.
  • Click OK to save the changes.
