How to insert another fingerprint to iPhone – Guide

Touch ID is old, having been first introduced in 2013 with the iPhone 5s. However, some features are still unknown, as I learned from reader emails and conversations. One of the most important is that you don’t have to just use your own fingerprints for Touch ID when it comes to your device. While this has been possible on all models and platforms from the start, it is clear that many people consider these fingerprints to be hand-held.

However, if you have someone else in your family, a loved one, or someone else that you also want access to, simply register one or more of their fingerprints as well. Assigning multiple fingers to Touch ID can be useful in a number of situations, such as when one hand is dirty and you want to use the other, or when you need to hold your device a certain way and use one of your fingers instead of your thumb.

When you first set up your device, you will be prompted to enroll a finger with Touch ID, but after that you will be able to add up to five of your fingers so they can also be used with Touch ID.

To add more fingers to your Touch ID fingerprint recognition system, follow these steps:

  • Launch the Settings app and open the Touch ID and password cell.
  • Enter your password when prompted.
  • Tap the blue button Add a fingerprint… button.
  • When the device prompts you, place the finger you want to authenticate with on the Touch ID sensor.
  • Place it on the sensor and lift up repeatedly until the fingerprint on the screen is completely red.
  • When your iPhone asks you to adjust your grip, tap the blue Continue button button.
  • When prompted, place your fingertip on the Touch ID sensor.
  • Get all the edges of your finger read by the Touch ID sensor by placing it and lifting up repeatedly until the fingerprint on the screen is completely red.
  • Once your device says it’s complete, tap the blue Continue button button.
  • Final note
