How to Make Web Galleries and Calendar on Mac Using iPhoto – Guide
In previous entries, we discussed some tips to take advantage of the Apple iPhoto app. However, this basic photo manager / editor comes with several features that are not always known to us, Mac users.
In this entry, we explore some of them that can be useful in some specific situations. First, we learn how to create your own web galleries using iPhoto, which can be used to share or host on your own website. Next, we explore the steps to create a calendar using your iPhoto library.

back to menu ↑Create a photo gallery on the web
Step 1: Group all the photos you would like to transform into a gallery in iPhoto, and then select them. After doing this, go to File in the iPhoto menu bar and select Export …
Step 2: Use the dialog box that shows up to adjust your gallery before exporting. First, at the top of it, change the name of your gallery and the number of rows and columns it will have. Then choose the type of template you prefer to use (framed is the best option if you ask me) and also select the background and font colors for your future gallery.
Step 3: The bottom section of the dialog allows you to customize the size of your gallery’s thumbnails and the maximum size of your images. Both settings are extremely useful, especially if your site’s audience still uses old computers to view it.
In addition, you can also select the checkboxes for any other information you would like to display in the photos in your gallery.
Step 4: Once your gallery is ready, click the Export button button, create a new folder to keep your gallery files (helps keep them organized) and click OK.
Your gallery is now ready to be uploaded to your website and you can even view it in any browser. Even if you don’t have a website and want to use this method to share the gallery with someone, you can always put that folder on, say, your Dropbox and then create a public link for sharing.
Create your own calendar (and also print and send it!)
Step 1: As with creating your own gallery (shown above), first group and select the photos you will use on your calendar. Then, in the lower left corner of the window, click Create and select Calendar.
Step 2: Apple will send a hard copy of your calendar to any destination of your choice and charge your Apple account, so first you need to select your billing address region. Then, on the next screen, select from the available templates the one you prefer for your calendar.
When you’re done, click Create.
Step 3: In the next dialog, you can adjust a number of your calendar settings, including your number of months, if you want to show your national holidays, your contacts’ birthdays and more.
Step 4: After clicking OK button, you’ll see all the pages on your calendar. Clicking on any of them will allow you to edit their content, including the selected photo and its size, and you can even add a note any day.
Step 5: In addition, you can use the bottom right corner buttons to change the entire layout of your calendar or to select other photos and such.
When you’re done, click Create calendar and you’ll be taken to the checkout page to make your purchase.
