Hello guys in this guide, I am gonna tell you about How To Record Google Hangout Conversations. So read this article, step by step so you may understand it in a better way.
Google Hangouts is a tool that can help connect teams or businesses through text chats and video meetings. And when it comes to sharing vital information, recording those meetings can be a valuable tool to add to your arsenal. Recording a Google Hangouts meeting is great for people who can’t attend the meeting when it happens. Once it’s recorded, you can send a link to those who were unable to attend the meeting, making sure everyone knows what’s going on.
Guide: How To Record Google Hangout Conversations
There are many reasons why you might want to record a Google Hangout conversation. Maybe you’re talking to a client or client on the Hangout and want to access everything that has been said and decided later on. Or maybe you have a Hangout with distant family and friends and want to keep up with the conversation so you can watch it later. I personally conduct a lot of phone interviews as part of my job, and even if I write quickly, I can never remember every detail of the conversations.
That’s why I record the calls – not for “training and quality purposes” but to remember details and answers to questions I may have missed or can’t remember. If you want to record Google Hangout conversations, here’s how. Keep in mind that the laws regarding whether or not to record a Google Hangout call vary from state to state. In the United States, in some states, all interlocutors must be notified that a recording is being made. In other states, only the party (which could be you) needs to be informed.
In any case, make sure to comply with applicable laws in your state or other jurisdiction. To be completely ethical, it is probably best that you always inform everyone in a conversation that a recording will be made and make sure you have their permission to record them. There are many ways to record a Google Hangout, but in my opinion, the two best ways are to use YouTube Live or Snagit. Both work very well and both offer decent recording quality for both voice and video. That makes them ideal for recording conversations for any reason.
Record Google Hangout conversations with YouTube Live
While your first reaction may be horrible if you have a Hangout conversation on YouTube, you can make the video completely private and only allow people who you give permission to see it. The advantage of YouTube Live is that it is browser-based and works on any device with a camera and microphone. So whether you use a desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone, the recording works in exactly the same way.
Log into YouTube and select your portrait at the top right. Select Creator Studio and wait for the new window to appear. If you haven’t created a channel yet, you will be prompted to do so at this point. From here, select Live streaming from the left menu, then Events. Click Enable Live Streaming and then Create Live Event. In this next menu, you have to set a time and description if desired. Select Public in the radio box or Private if you only want to keep a recording of the video without sharing it publicly on YouTube. Hidden allows you to share it with others but not make it available for public searches.
Make sure Type is set to Google Hangouts on Air. Select the blue Go Live Now button bottom right. You will see another confirmation box telling you that you are about to go live. After that, select Launch Hangouts on Air from the next window. Once you click Launch Hangouts on Air, you should see the usual YouTube window with a comment section on the right. You and the other party are in the middle pane with a series of settings below. When you’re done, select your ending and your video will be available in the events window for you to reference or share.
Currently, YouTube Live uses extensions, which means that you need a browser that supports them for this to work. Currently, that means Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Safari.
Record Google Hangout conversations with Snagit
Snagit is a great tool for taking screenshots, but in addition to taking photos, Snagit can also capture video and audio. That makes it useful when recording calls, interviews, or whatever. If you don’t like the idea of a recording on YouTube, even though it is, in theory, private (we’ve all seen the data piracy horror stories) then this is an option you should consider. Snagit is available for both Windows and Mac.
- Download and install Snagit. It is free for 15 days and then requires a license.
- Open Snagit and select Video.
- Make sure Sharing is set to None and System audio recording is turned on.
- Select the red Capture button, select the screen you want to record on, and start recording.
- Once the recording is complete, save the file to your device.
- Open and edit the recording in Snagit as you see fit.
Once installed, Snagit makes it easy to record Google Hangout conversations. The downside is that after your free trial is over, Snagit is a premium product that costs $ 49.95 for a single user license. An educational version is available for $29.95, and government or nonprofit users can get a license for $ 42.95. If you want to take things with you up Up a notch, Camtasia from the same company is a professional video recording app but costs a whopping $ 249.
Institution up to record Google Hangout conversations
Now you know what tools to use to record Google Hangout conversations and what about setup up the right conditions to make a great shot? Whether you are recording a conversation between friends, a complaint to a company, or a phone interview, setting the scene and making sure you are in the right room can make all the difference in the quality of the recorded conversation.
If you’re using both video and audio, setting the right lighting is essential. Webcams and phone camera’s not always adaptable to rapid changes in light, so it’s best to stay still if you can and have predictable lighting that illuminates your face, but not too much. You don’t have to be in a professional studio or a darkened room, but for best results, the room should be somewhere where the light doesn’t change too much or too quickly. I tend to shoot in my office, but a coffee shop or outdoor venue can work as long as you’re shooting somewhere shaded.
Webcams and smartphones can also have very sensitive microphones that peck up all kinds of ambient noise. You want to minimize that as much as possible. While you can record a conversation in a coffee shop, keep in mind that the noise from cups, spoons, and coffee machines can be a distraction. We are not always aware of it, as we are so used to it in our daily life, but still camera those sounds can be very noticeable. You should be aware of it when setting it up up a recording.
Finally, if you are recording a video, using the rule of thirds when framing the interview will make for much better production. Ideally, if you’re interviewing someone for broadcast or streaming, you want them in one-third of the frame with the other two-thirds as the background. You want a static background whenever possible so as not to be distracting. Moving backgrounds are fine, as long as they aren’t exciting or moving too fast. You want the topic to be the star of the show, not what’s going on behind them!
