Windows 10 and Windows 11 Kiosk Mode is a blocking mechanism that allows IT teams and administrators to restrict Windows 10 and 11 devices to running a single application or a specific group of applications to improve control and management. Windows Kiosk Mode is particularly useful for blocking Windows 10 and 11 devices used for a specific purpose, such as self-service kiosks at airports, point-of-sale (POS) terminals in self-service restaurants, or signage for advertising, as it also ensures that users cannot change device settings, access other features or applications on the devices, or use the device for unintended purposes. In this article, we will show you how to to define up Kiosk Mode in Windows 11.

How to To define up Kiosk Mode in Windows 11

Windows 11 lets you set up a kiosk for your PC to be used as a public terminal to display public announcements or other information. Per up a kiosk on your Windows 11 machine, do the following:-

  • First, open the Settings app by pressing Windows + I keys on your keyboard.
  • Then select the Accounts category on the left side of the Settings window.
  • After that, click on the Family and other users tile on the right side panel.
  • Then scroll down on the “Family & Other Users” settings page and click on the Get Started button button in “Set up a kiosk”.
  • When finished, the “Create an account” box will open on the screen.
  • In this box, enter a name for the new local user account. Windows 11 will automatically create an account with that name for kiosk mode. If you already have any local accounts you want to set up Kiosk mode, select the “Choose an existing account” link and select your local account.
  • Once this is done, click Next. button.
  • Windows will now suggest a list of apps that you can use in kiosk mode. Select a kiosk app of your choice and click Next button.
  • If you select Microsoft Edge, you will see two options under how to use the app :-
  • As a digital sign or interactive display: the browser will open in full screen.
  • As a public browser: The browser will open with a limited set of features.
  • Select one of the options and click Next button.
  • On the following screen, enter the default home page that will open up automatically when the browser is opened.
  • Then select the time from the drop-down menu. This option will restart the browser if someone has used it for the specified time. This helps keep data safe in a public browsing session.
  • When finished, click on the Next button button.
  • Click the Close button button.
