Are all your medical records in one place? Make your life easier by adding your official medical records to the Apple Health app on your iPhone. From vaccination cards to prescriptions and health certificates, there are a number of medical records you may require at different times in your life, whether you are healthy or sick. You may need them for your admissions process or another trip to the doctor.

Sorting hard copies of all your records is a lot of work and it’s hard to keep track of them all, especially if you have a heavy stack. This is where the iPhone Health app comes in handy as it lets you add medical records virtually.

Add medical records to iPhone Health

It is important to remember that the number of hospitals and healthcare providers associated with Apple is limited. There is a list of all Apple-associated healthcare providers on the Apple website. Be sure to check that your healthcare provider is on the list before starting. Along with adding medical records, you must also define up a medical ID on your iPhone in case of an emergency.

Follow these steps to add your medical records to the iPhone Health app:

  • Open the Health app.
  • Tap your profile in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Select Health Records under the Features category.
  • Tap Getting Started.
  • You will see a prompt asking for permission to use your location. Select Allow when using the app for ease of use. If you want your permission to be asked for the next time you access health records, you can choose Allow once.
  • Enter your healthcare provider’s name in the search bar and select it from the list. If you don’t see it, it’s not currently supported by Apple Health. Fortunately, Apple’s list of healthcare providers is always growing.
  • After selecting it, a pop-up on your screen will show a list of all the records it can share with you in the Health app. Tap Connect to account in blue at the bottom.
  • Enter your login and password details.
  • Different healthcare providers will lead to different prompts after login. Follow the prompts that appear on your iPhone screen and set up all your medical records.
  • Once you’ve followed all of your healthcare provider’s instructions and added your medical records, you can view them on the Browse tab at the bottom of the screen.
