### Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter

In the Windows search bar type, Troubleshoot and click Troubleshoot settings.

Click Window Update - Resolve the issue preventing you from updating Windows > Run the troubleshooter.

Let Windows Update detect the problem.

Once done, click Next and restart your Windows 10 system.

Now try to update Windows, you should no longer face Windows cannot check for updates at the moment.

### Reset Windows Update Settings

Press Windows + X keys.

Select Settings from the pop-upup menu.

Here, click Update & Security.

In the next window, click on Windows Update.

Click Advanced Options.

Under Pause Updates, select the date by which you do not want to download updates.

### Update RST driver

### Clear Windows Update History

Press Windows + R

Then in the Run window, type services.msc and press enter

Now, in the Services window, look for the Windows Update service.

Right-click Windows Update > Stop

After that, launch Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:Windows folder.

Browse to the Software Distribution folder and delete all files stored there.

Again, go to the Windows Services window.  Right-click Windows Update > Start.

Restart Windows and try running Windows Update.

### Reset Windows Update Repository

Type command prompt in Windows search bar

Click Run as administrator in the right pane

Enter the following commands:

network stop bits

net stop wuauserv

Press Windows + R keys

On Run, Windows types %WINDIR% and presses enter

Look for the SoftwareDistribution folder and rename it to SoftwareDistribution.old

Go back to the Command Prompt that we are running as an administrator and type the following commands.  Be sure to press enter after each command:

net start bits

net start wuauserv

Restart Windows.
