Because it supports maximum resolution, file types, multipage PDF and INDD files, and colors, the Insert command is the most popular way to embed graphics in InDesign.  Importing images and inserting photographs are other terms for inserting graphics.

If these attributes aren't crucial to your work, you can use copy and paste to import graphics into InDesign.  However, pasting a graphic into a document breaks the link to the original graphic file, which is not displayed in the Links panel, and you cannot change the graphic in the original file.  Pasting Illustrator drawings into InDesign, on the other hand, lets you change paths.  See Importing Adobe Illustrator Graphics for more information.

The options you have when inserting a graphic file are determined by the graphic type.  When you select Show Import Options in the Location dialog box, these options are displayed.  If Show Import Options is not selected, InDesign uses the default settings or last used settings to place a graphic file of this type.

In the Links panel, you can see the names of the graphics entered (imported).

## Steps:

Open Adobe InDesign.

Open the InDesign document you will be working from.

Click File > Insert in the InDesign dashboard.

Drag and place your image in the desired position and click with the mouse.

Adjust the size of your image, if necessary, by selecting the image using the Select tool and clicking on one of the handles (small squares) located on the frame.

Repeat these steps for all photos you want to add.
