## Guide: Add Trackers to uTorrent - Guide

If you use torrent files a lot, you might have heard of torrent trackers.  If not, if you've already searched for guides about how to increase torrent download speed then you may have mentioned torrent trackers.  Here in this article is a list of high quality and highly rated torrent trackers that will help you increase your download speed by at least 3x.  If you're new to custom torrent trackers, you're sure to see a big difference in download speed.

Torrent trackers are used to find peers and connect directly to each other so that peer-to-peer torrenting can occur.  The torrent tracker list is useful in this case as it allows you to assign a list to the torrent client software and increase uTorrent's download speed because the more trackers it has, the more direct connections and the faster the speed. As you already know, Extra Torrent was recently closed, so you may need additional alternative torrent sites.  Here are a few more public and private crawler sites.

## How

Initially I thought the way to add multiple URLs is to click Add button.  Apparently I was wrong because the correct button is Edit.  You find it in the torrent being downloaded > Properties > Trackers > Edit.

## Example

The latest LTS version of Ubuntu is currently 18.04 and the first release point 18.04.1 has also been released.  This means that the original Ubuntu tracker won't do if you insist on downloading 18.04.  It will not give you pairs (“sowers”).  Therefore, you may find that you cannot download or have very slow speed.  See the comparison below.

For 18.04, the torrent.ubuntu.com tracker has an error (ignore the IPv6 tracker):

This comparison shows that some torrents may have inactive trackers despite the actual files being available for download.  If the trackers are inactive, you may not get peers (“seeders”), so you will not be able to download.

Then, how to get more seeders?  Getting other trackers, of course.  If you get multiple trackers, chances are good that you'll get a lot more seeders as well, and in turn get more speed.

Now download the Ubuntu 18.04 torrent file

Then open it with Transmission.

Let it download first.

Now, right click on the torrent being downloaded > Properties > Trackers > Edit.

Go to the list of torrent trackers, for example see the link above.  Copy as many URL addresses as possible from there.

Paste URLs into Edit Trackers in Stream.  (Copy browser URLs (left) and paste them into the stream (right)).

Right-click on the torrent> Ask Tracker for more colleagues> done!
