## How to block an App from accessing Internet in Windows 11/10 - Guide

If you want to prevent a specific program from accessing the Internet on your Windows 11 PC, this article will help you.  You can use Windows Firewall to quickly and easily block a program from being accessed over the Internet.  If you block an application through the firewall, inbound and outbound traffic will be stopped.

To block an application's access to the Internet, you can find freeware and shareware applications on the market.  However, in this post, we'll use Windows Defender's built-in firewall to set up input and output rules to block input and output connections for the selected program.

Have you installed ad-packed software?  Or do you want to use a modified game or application on your computer without worrying about privacy?  Well, in that case, you can completely prevent the program or software from using the Internet on your PC.  In this article, we'll show you a quick way to prevent an application from accessing the Internet in Windows 10.

## How to    block an application's access to the Internet on Windows 11/10

On the Windows desktop screen, go to Start, search for and open “Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security“.

In the Advanced Security window, in the left pane, click Inbound Rules.

In the right pane, click New Rule (under the “Actions” column).

In the wizard window, select Program and click Next.

Then under “Path to this program“, enter the path to the program or click Browse to navigate to the program you want to block.  Click next to continue.

On the next screen, select “Block the connection“.

When prompted by “When this rule applies”, select the network profile that, when connected, you want the program to be blocked.  If you are unsure, select the three Domain, Private and Public to block the program when connected to any of these network profiles.

Then enter a name for this rule.  It can be any name you want.  The name and description serve to make it easier to identify this rule in the list of all added rules.

Click Finish to add the rule.

Then back to the Advanced Security window, in the left pane, click Outbound Rules.

In the “Actions” column, click New Rule.

Repeat steps 4 through 9 to add an outbound rule to block the outbound connection from the program.

After you add inbound and outbound rules to block connections to or from a program with Windows Defender Firewall, that program will no longer be able to access the Internet.

## How to    Prevent a program from connecting to the Internet in Windows 10

Type "Windows Defender Firewall" into the Windows 10 search bar and click on the first result.

Look to the left side of the app and click Advanced Settings.

Once the Advanced Security application is open, click on Outbound Rules, located on the left side.

Now click on New Rule, which will appear on the right side.

The New Outbound Rule Wizard will open;  select Program and continue.

You will have to click This program path and click Browse to select the program you want to block.

On the next screen, simply select Block the connection.

You will be asked when you want this rule to apply.  If not already selected, click Domain, Private and Public.

All you need to do now is name the rule, add a description if you like, and click Finish.
