before explaining how to enter safe mode, we would like to briefly discuss the different versions of diagnostic mode.  There are three different versions of Safe Mode in Windows 11. Each of these versions can be used for different diagnostic purposes.  There are some applications, features or drivers that are not behaving properly and causing problems?  In that case, you might be wondering how to fix them, and one of the best troubleshooting tools is Windows 11 Safe Mode.

In Windows 7 and earlier, you can usually start Safe Mode by pressing a function key (like F8) right after turning on your PC.  Microsoft ended it feature starting with Windows 8 because boot times have become too fast, thanks to new technologies, for anyone to press F8 before Windows loads.  You can force this by turning on the PC and then pressing physical power button as soon as the manufacturer's logo appears.  If you do this twice, an extended boot screen will appear with the prompt “Choose an option”.

## Boot into safe mode using settings

Open the Settings app from the Start Menu.

In the system tab, scroll down to open the Recovery tab.  Alternatively, you can look for the Recovery tab.

Also, on the Recovery page, you will see an option called Advanced startup.  click on restart button along with the option to continue.

Your PC will restart and you will have several options on the screen.  Select Troubleshoot.

Then select Advanced Options > Startup Settings.

Click Restart.  After that, you will have options to choose from.  Press the function key associated with the safe mode in the list.  For example, press F4 to boot into safe mode.

## Boot into Safe Mode from the Start Menu

To get started, open the Start Menu.

Click on the Power Button which has options like Restart, Shutdown, Suspend, etc.

Then, while holding the Shift key, click Restart.

Your PC will restart and you will have several options on the screen.  Select Troubleshoot.

Then select Advanced Options > Startup Settings.

Click Restart.  After that, you will have options to choose from.  Press the function key associated with the safe mode in the list.  For example, press F4 to boot into safe mode.
