## How to change the notification tones for any app on Android phone - Guide

Notification tones are just one of many ways to personalize your Android, and each Android version refines the process.  Your Android has a default notification tone setting for all apps;  You can also change app sounds by app.  Here it is how to change default and notification tones for Google Messages, Gmail, and Phone application.

All Android smartphones have some predefined notification tones that you can use as app notification tones.  Normally, our smartphones come with default notification tones, so it's sometimes difficult to tell which app received the notification.  So if you are also confused by your notification tones, you can set different notification tones for each app on your Android phone.

## PHONE SETTINGS

Android 8.0 Oreo has changed the way with notification channels that allow app notifications to be set individually for apps.  However, the setting to change the default app's tone is deeply buried in the settings.  Here are steps to help you change the default notification sound in any Android app.

Open the settings in your phone and go to Apps & Notifications, Installed Apps, or Manage Apps, depending on the available option.

In All apps, tap the app whose notification tone you want to change.  Let's use WhatsApp as an example.  Tap WhatsApp.

Tap Notifications in WhatsApp.  If you are on an earlier version of Android, you will get the default sound or sound option.  Tap it to change the pitch.

However, in phones running Android 8.0 Oreo and above, you will see different notification channels or categories.  For example, you will see categories like group notifications and message notifications in WhatsApp notifications.  You will find that notification categories usually have a toggle button and a straight bar in front of it.

If you see a straight bar next to the setting name in Android settings, then tapping the setting name (instead of the button) will reveal more settings.

Then tap the Message Notifications text to reveal more settings.

Then tap Advanced followed by Sound. Assign a different notification tone for WhatsApp messages from individual contacts.  You can also customize other notification-related settings on this screen.

Likewise, you can set a different tone for WhatsApp group messages by tapping the channel in the Group notifications category.  For other apps, you will see categories based on the app.  Tap the notification category to reveal the Sound setting to change the default notification tone.

## How to    Set different notification tones for different Gmail accounts on Android

Some users add multiple Gmail accounts to their phones for several reasons.  These accounts can be business or personal.  Keeping a separate email notification tone for each account will help you distinguish the meaning of the email.

Open Settings and go to Apps or Installed Apps.

Tap Gmail in All Apps.

Tap Notifications.  You will be greeted by multiple notification channels categorized by your Gmail account.  Tap the email or Mail text in your Gmail account whose notification tone you want to change.

Tap Advanced in the Notification category to reveal more options.  Tap Sound. Choose a tone you want to use.  Check other Gmail notification settings you might want to customize.

## How to    Change message notification sound on Android

To change the message tone, go to Settings > Applications.  Tap the Messaging app, followed by Notifications.  Depending on different manufacturers, you will see different notification categories.  Tap Incoming messages or General depending on the available option.  Then tap Advanced followed by Sound. Change the tone.

On dual-SIM phones, you'll see the SIM 1 and SIM 2 notification categories under Notifications.  Tap required SIM and go to Advanced > Sound to change notification tone.

## APP SETTINGS

Some Android apps have a built-in setting to change default notification tones.  You can also customize the notification tone within the app.  You can even customize notification tones for individual contacts, if your app allows it.

Suppose you want to change your phonetouch from.  To do this, open your default phone app.  At the top, tap the three dot symbol.  Select settings.

Tap Sounds & Vibration or something similar like Call alerts / Ringtones.  Tap Ringtone and choose a new ringtone.

Likewise, if you want to customize the WhatsApp notification tone, open the WhatsApp Settings in the ​​application.  Go to Notifications.  Here you will see notification options for individual and group messages.  Tap Notification tone to change the sound.
