## How to Clear Microsoft Teams Cache on Mac and Windows PC - Guide

The folder you deleted removes everything cached by Microsoft Teams on your Windows 10 PC. Clearing the cache will not remove the Microsoft Teams app from your PC; How to uninstall Microsoft Teams completely.  Your new Microsoft Teams cache directory will be automatically restored using your organization's Microsoft 365 cloud account.  Your previously saved Microsoft Teams settings will be completely erased.  Clearing the cache will remove the following Microsoft Teams items from your Windows 10 PC;  the web client cache, icons, thumbnails, local message history, your Microsoft Teams display images, and any other Microsoft Teams add-ons.

You may need to sign in to Teams again after restarting the app, but you should be able to use Microsoft Teams without any issues.  This method works similarly on a Mac, excluding the following directory;  ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams.  On Windows 10, this cache clearing method is especially useful if you're having trouble signing in to Microsoft Teams if you have multiple accounts, or if you're trying to remove old Microsoft Teams account information.

## Clear Microsoft Teams Cache on Windows

First, close the Microsoft Teams client.  To do this, right-click on the application icon in the system tray in the lower right corner and select “Exit“.

Then open a command prompt window with administrator privileges.  To do this, search for “command prompt” in the Windows search bar and click on “Run as administrator“.

Now copy and paste the following command: rmdir /q /s %appdata%MicrosoftTeams in the command prompt and press Enter.  If there is no error message, it means the cache files were successfully deleted.

## Clear Microsoft Teams Cache on Mac

As for Mac users, follow the steps below to clear Microsoft Teams cache and fix persistent errors and issues with the team collaboration app.

First, right-click the Microsoft Teams app icon in your dock and select “Exit“.

Now open Finder, click “Go” in the menu bar at the top and select the option “Go to folder”.'

Then copy and paste the following path into the text field in the pop-upup window and click "Go".

~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft

Now, right-click on the “Teams” folder and select “Move to Trash“.

Then open the “Spotlight Search” by clicking the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner of the menu bar.  You can also use the keyboard shortcut Cmd + Spacebar.

Now, type “Keychain” in Spotlight Search and from the suggestions that appear, click on “Keychain Access“.

Finally, you should search for “Microsoft Teams” in Keychain Access and find the “Microsoft Teams Identity Cache“.  Right-click on this item and select “Delete“.  You have now successfully cleared the Microsoft Teams cache on Mac and can now close Keychain Access.
