PlayStation Network (PSN) is an online distribution service for games and media content.  Sony Corporation originally developed PSN to support its PlayStation 3 (PS3) console.  The company has expanded the service over the years to support the PlayStation 4 (PS4), other Sony devices, and streaming music and video content.  PlayStation Network is operated by Sony Network Entertainment International (SNEI) and competes with Xbox Network.  Below are the steps to close a PS5 or PSN account.

## How to    Close a PS5 and PSN account

If you want to permanently delete your PS5/PlayStation Network account, you need to close it through the official PlayStation website.  Click on the “Contact Us” section on the page to submit a request to Sony.  Please include your login ID (email address) and online ID on your ticket.  The support team will contact you within a few days to let you know whether or not your account can be closed.  Closing your account will have the following effects:

The online ID of the closed account will not be eligible for claim when creating another account.

You will lose access to any content purchased using the account.  This content cannot be transferred to another PSN

account, and refunds can only be made in accordance with the PlayStation Store cancellation policy.

You will lose access to any subscriptions and their associated rights.

You will lose access to your PSN wallet.  Funds in your wallet are non-returnable as stated in Sony's terms of service.
