## How to Delete Version History in Google Docs - Guide

one of the most useful features What Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides offer is version history. If you made unwanted changes to your original document, just go to previous versions of the document and select the one you want to restore. If you've shared your document with others and want to keep track of the changes you've made, you can do so by viewing the revision history for that document. If someone has shared a document with you, that feature makes it easy to keep track of all the changes you make without having to send regular updates.

However, sometimes you may want to clear your document's revision history. Let's say you want to share a document that previously contained sensitive information that you don't want anyone to see. Even if you deleted this information, anyone you shared the document with can simply view the previous version of the document. Open Google Docs home page in your browser (docs.google.com) and open the document you want to make a copy of. All your previous documents can be found under “Recent Documents”.

## How to Delete Version History in Google Docs

Log in to your Google account and click the "Documents" tab to access your files.

Click on the file from which you want to remove revision history. The file opens in a new editing window.

Click on the “File” button button in the document window (not in the “File” option of the main browser).

Select “Make a copy” and click “OK”. The new copy opens in a new browser tab.

Return to your Google Docs homepage. Hover over the original file and click on “Actions” button. Click “Move to Trash” to remove the file.

Click on “Actions” button for the copied file. Click "Rename" and remove the "Copy from" text from the title. You now have a complete copy of the file with the same title as the original. When accessing the revision history of this copied file, it will only show the creation of the copy and none of the revisions made to the original file.
