## How to Edit Batch Images On Windows, Mac and Chrome OS - Guide

Cropping multiple photos to the same size can be a big hassle if you work with a lot of them.  You can have a batch of 30 photos that require the same watermark.  In either case, reviewing them all at the same time can save you a lot of time.

There are native tools for making simple modifications on all three platforms, but there is no natural mechanism for changing more than one image at a time.  As a result, we will have to rely on third-party solutions.

While there are a plethora of premium programs that would gladly accept your money in exchange for mass editing, we focus on capable free software.

## Batch Editing on Windows

Open GIMP and click on File from the main menu.

Select Batch Image Manipulation from the drop-down menu.

A bang-up window appears.  Under Manipulation Set, click the Add button. button.

Select a manipulation in the resulting popup menu.

Click on the Add button button again if you want to add another manipulation to the set

Click Add Images button located under Input Files and Options and select the images you want to bulk edit.

Select an output folder.

Click Apply to start the batch editing process.

## Batch editing on MacOS

With PhotoScape X open, click Batch located in the menu.

Click the blue “plus” icon next to Add Folder on the left to load the folder containing your images.

Your image gallery loads in the lower left window.  Drag the images you want to edit up in the top center window.

On the right, select the handler you want to apply to the images.  Like the GIMP plugin, you can apply various image handlers before exporting changed images.

To export your modified images, click on the Save button button.

## Batch Editing on Chrome OS

Chrome OS, like Windows and MacOS, lacks native batch editing capabilities.  Instead, you will need to use the BIMP plugin and the Linux-based version of GIMP.

The Ubuntu Instant Version can be found at the Software Center.  It may be listed in the software markets of other distributions.  You can also just download the flatpack build from Gimp.org.  Remember that before installing the BIMP plugin, you will need Gimptool to create it.

Those familiar with Linux may find this procedure simple.  Unfortunately, for those of us with less computing experience, this approach can be more cumbersome than it's worth.  Instead, use web or Android based apps that can batch edit photos to avoid issues.
