## How to Enable a Personalized Screen Saver on Chromebook - Guide

Getting a device that works well is one thing. However, if you can get one that also looks good, that's another matter. Fortunately, almost all devices share a commonality that allows them to display class and style in a unique way. If you find that your device has been idle for a long time with no activity, it will inevitably go into screen saver mode. let's see what that feature really is. The first original use of a screen protector dates back to 1983. Its purpose was to prevent phosphor burn in plasma and CRT computers.

Today, however, they have been revitalized with a touch of modernity. A screen saver is actually a computer program that allows the computer to display different images, patterns or photos when not used for a long time. The key here is to use a screen saver that is really light on your system. A fancy, graphics-intensive one can shorten battery life and put more strain on your computer. So, always be relaxed when choosing your screensaver. Below are the steps to enable a custom screensaver on Chromebook.

## How to Activate a custom screensaver on Chromebook

First, select the clock on the Shelf to open the Quick Settings panel. Click on the gear icon to open the Settings menu.

In Settings, select “Personalization” from the left sidebar.

Click "Screen Saver" in the "Personalization" section.

Activate the “On” switch.

We now have some customization options to work with. In the "Background" section, you can choose between "Google Photos" or "Art gallery".

Each one will give you a few different albums to choose from. If you choose "Google Photos", you can choose from your personal albums.

Once you've made your background selections, go to the "Weather" section and choose "Fahrenheit" or "Celsius".

That's all there is to it. The screensaver will automatically launch when the device is idle, which takes about six minutes on battery power or eight minutes when plugged in.

If you want to keep the screen on so you can enjoy the screensaver longer, open the Settings menu and go to Device > Power. Here, you can choose to “Keep screen on” when idle while charging or on battery.

You now have a Smart Display type screensaver with some useful information and custom background images. This should make your Chromebook a little better when you're not using it.
