The Car Crash Detection feature was originally introduced with the Pixel 4 in 2019 and can instantly trigger your phone to summon emergency services when it detects an accident. The Pixel phone will vibrate and play an alert sound after a crash to check on you. You can say “Emergency”. It will immediately notify emergency services, such as 911 in the US, to let them know about the crash and your location if you don’t answer within 60 seconds.

On eligible devices, the Personal Safety app can be used to toggle this Pixel-only Android functionality. Other useful features of the Safety app include Safety Check, emergency location sharing, SOS, and alerts about local emergencies. Additionally, the software allows you to store medical information. In an emergency, other individuals can see this information without you having to unlock your device. We have mentioned steps below to **enable Crash Detection on Pixel Devices**

## Steps to Enable Crash Detection on Pixel Devices

Open **Personal Security** app on Pixel. It is labeled “**Security**” in the app drawer. You can also type it into Google search or the search bar in app drawer to bring it up faster.

In Personal Security, tap gear icon at top left of screen to navigate to **Settings screen**.

scroll down to Car **Accident Detection** and navigate to the submenu. There, turn on the feature.

At this point, you have the option to try out a demo for**Car Accident Detection**. Here, the phone rings and vibrates. You are now prompted to swipe left to either call 911 (or your local emergency number, such as 999) and say you were not involved in an accident, or say you were only in a minor accident. It’s a good thing to try at**least once.**
