Type chrome://flags into Chrome's address page and press Enter.  You will be taken to the Chrome flags page.  This is the most experimental section of the browser that loads features that are not yet considered stable enough to be part of the existing line of features.

look for the feature titled "Enable Reader Mode".

Once you locate the Reader Mode feature, click the flag on the side to change it from "Default" to "On".

Alternatively, a more direct way of enabling the feature is by going to Chrome's address bar and simply typing chrome://flags/#enable-reader-mode and pressing Enter to go to that section.

Now your browser settings have been changed.  To allow the changes to take effect, exit your browser and log in again.

Go to a website that contains the ads and pop-ups you want to avoid.  Open the floating menu represented by the three dots in the upper right corner of the page and look for the “Distill” option.  Click on it.
