## How to Factory Reset Windows 10 PC using Command Prompt - Guide

Performing a factory reset on your computer essentially means returning your system to its original state.  This will restore the existing operating system to the original operating system and delete all data from the system related partition.  Factory data reset is commonly used to troubleshoot operating system problems.  Factory data reset can quickly and easily remove problematic data or applications.  If the computer problem cannot be resolved or the computer is very slow, resetting to factory defaults is the most appropriate method.

Repair Winload.exe from Windows 10 using the command prompt.  You can also access a working Windows 10 PC and create a recovery drive.  If you are using a USB drive, make sure the BIOS is set. up to boot from the USB drive.  After booting, select Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command prompt in setup.  “My issues with Windows 10 came about after a recent update.  I couldn't connect to the internet so I did a recovery.  After that, everything went wrong.  I can't run most programs and I can't open the Windows settings to try resetting, it's the same in safe mode.

## Reset Windows 10 using the command prompt

Open Command Prompt on your Windows 10 computer.

In Command Promot, type the following command:

system reset –factory reset

You will now be asked to choose if you want to remove apps and settings while keeping your files or if you can remove everything.

After that, you will have to decide whether you want to just remove your files or remove your files and clean the drive.

On the next screen, you will be informed that your PC is ready to be restarted.  Click on “Reset” to start the process.
