## How to Find Model Number of iPhone or iPad - Guide

There you will see the engraved iPad and below it a smaller letter containing the capital “A” followed by a series of numbers.  Finding your iPad's model number may not be a priority when you purchase your device, but you'll need it if you plan on purchasing accessories for it.

You also need it if you want to sell your device online.  The iPad, iPad Air, iPad Mini and iPad Pro in three different sizes are different versions of the iPad available from Apple and each generation has its own characteristics.  Due to these differences, compatibility issues may arise if you do not know the model number.

You can find your iPhone or iPad model number using the hardware or software.  The fastest way is to use the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

First, open the “Settings” app on your iPhone or iPad.

Then go to the "General" section.

Here, select the “About” option.

Now tap on the number next to the "Model Number" option.

The number will change to reveal the actual model number of your iPhone or iPad.

If your iPhone won't boot up, you can also check the device model number.  If you are using an iPhone 8 or higher, remove the SIM tray.  You will find the model number engraved at the top in very small letters.

If you're using an iPhone 7 or earlier, you'll find the model number inscribed on the back of the case.
