Finding a public restroom in the Indian capital is now as easy as looking for a bank, cafe or restaurant, thanks to Google Maps.  About 333 public toilets in Delhi can be found through the service.  So the next time you want to take a call from nature in Delhi, just tap the Google search bar.  As part of “Digital India”, an initiative to promote the use of digital platforms, and “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”, an initiative to create a clean environment, New Delhi City Council (NDMC), in partnership with Google India, launched a toilet locator awareness campaign to help people in Delhi find public toilets in their area.

Under this campaign, around 333 community restrooms and restrooms at train stations, gas stations, shopping malls and bus stops in Delhi can be found on Google Maps.  They join the toilets in the NCR (National Capital Region, which includes Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad) that can already be found in the technology company's mapping service, bringing the total number of geotagged toilets to over 5,000.  The service is available in English and Hindi.  According to India's Ministry of Urban Development, the initiative will soon be extended to other parts of India.

This feature will work in any mobile phone    and toilet locations can be searched and found on the Google map.  Or else you can type in the search bar.  You can use any keyword like toilets, toilets, toilets or add near me to them.  You can also use Google Assistant, where you just say 'OK Google' - find public restrooms near me.

It can also be easily used on Google Maps in any desktop browser, where in the search bar you can type in the same keywords (bathroom).

Other useful searches are gas stations with restrooms as they are located in safe areas and may have other toiletries and stores as well.
