## How to Fix ‘Fire TV Stick Remote Won’t Pair After Factory Reset’ issue - Guide

Streaming devices like the Amazon Fire TV Stick (aka Firestick) are becoming increasingly popular as more people abandon cable television. And when it's working well, the Firestick is a fantastic device. If the Firestick remote control stops working, you will not be able to watch movies or television. You may not even be able to turn on the television. Fortunately, there are several options for repairing a broken Firestick controller.

## How to fix your Firestick remote when it's not working

### change batteries

It may seem too simple to work, but listen to us. Your Firestick may be small, but it uses energy whenever you press a button. And over the course of a year, it adds up.

Remove the battery cover on the back of your Firestick remote to remove the batteries and replace them with new ones. Most Firestick remote controls carry two AAA batteries.

After replacing the batteries, try using the remote again.

### remove any obstructions

Your Firestick remote may be wireless, but it still needs space to connect to the Firestick. Make sure there's nothing blocking your remote or Firestick, like a game console or stack of books. Also, move all nearby devices sending out radio signals, such as Wi-Fi routers or even microwaves.

For best results, there should be a clear line between the remote and the Firestick.

### Unpair and reconnect the remote

If batteries aren't the issue and you have a clean line of sight, your remote's Firestick connection may need an update. Unpairing your Firestick remote and re-pairing it can do the trick.

Use another Firestick remote to activate your Firestick and open the Settings menu. If you don't have another physical remote, you can connect your iPhone or Android device and use it as a virtual remote.

From the Settings menu, select Bluetooth Devices and Controllers, then Amazon Fire TV Remotes.

Scroll down to the remote that isn't working - it will probably just be called Amazon Fire TV Remote - and press Menu button and then the select button. Your remote will disappear from the list.

Scroll down and select Add New Remote, then press and hold the Home button on the remote not paired.

When the Firestick prompts you, press the Select button button on the “old” remote you used to navigate the menus.
