## How to Fix ‘It When a Fire Stick Overheats’ Issue - Guide

You probably don't, and that's why you're here. Well, let me reassure you, you're not alone in this. The dangers of Firestick overheating put your Firestick at risk of permanent damage. This also affects device performance, which often leads to slow loading and buffering. There are numerous complaints about Firestick overheating from Amazon Fire TV users. I know this is a painfully familiar experience for many, but don't worry. The Firestick comes with an HDMI extender packaged in a box and we strongly recommend that you use it.

Many people put the Firestick behind the TV to hide it. The heat a TV generates is mostly concentrated at the back, and plugging your device into the back is a bad plan, especially if it's close to a wall. Not all FireStick devices would overheat. However, if you're here, it was probably yours. You are not alone. I have found numerous complaints on the internet. So I decided it would be a good idea to lead. Overheating risks permanently damaging the FireStick if not taken care of. This also affects device performance.

## How do I stop my Fire Stick from overheating?

### Here it is how to prevent a Fire Stick from overheating:

Unplug the Fire Stick and let it cool. If your Fire Stick is faulty and you suspect it is overheating, it is essential to start by letting it cool down. Unplug it from the television and USB power source and place it in a well-ventilated area. Once it cools down, you can plug it back in and continue.

Try a different HDMI port. If your TV has HDMI ports in multiple locations, try moving the Fire Stick to another port. If there are ports on the side or front of the TV, the Fire Stick won't get as hot in those places.

Use the HDMI extender. The Fire Sticks come with an HDMI extender designed to help in situations where there's not a lot of space around the HDMI ports on a television. It also allows you to place the Fire Stick a few inches away from the television, which can help with overheating issues.

Use a longer HDMI extender. If your television is inside a cabinet or against a wall, the Fire Stick can still get very hot even with the HDMI extender. In that case, a longer HDMI extender that allows you to position the Fire Stick away from the television can help.

Use a USB port on your TV. If your TV has powered USB ports designed to power devices like the Fire Stick, try using one of them instead of a USB power adapter. This will allow the Fire Stick to turn off when the TV is on. When you use a USB power adapter, the Fire Stick remains on at all times, which can cause it to overheat over time.

Block app notifications. Your Fire Stick might be overheating because it's working too hard and app notifications take a while up Processing power. Navigate to Settings > Preferences > Notification Settings and enable Do Not Disturb.

Disable autoplay feature. And another feature this could be overloading your Fire Stick. Navigate to Settings > Preferences > Featured Contents and turn off Allow AutoPlay Sound and Allow AutoPlay Video.

Clear Fire Stick cache. Navigate to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > (App) > Clear Cache. Do this for each app you use a lot and each one with a large cache.

Delete unused apps. If your Fire Stick storage is full or nearly full, try uninstalling some apps you no longer use.

Restart your Fire Stick. If nothing else worked, perform a factory reset on your Fire Stick. It is the last fix you should try as you will have to set up your Fire Stick and download everything again.
