## How to hide photos and videos on iPhone - Guide

Smartphones are highly personal devices, so it's no surprise that we store a lot of sensitive data and a lot of personal photos on them.  Also, the cameras on devices like the iPhone have a lot of power, so it's very clear for us to photograph and share many of our personal moments.  However, we don't want anyone to see our private photos on our iPhone, right?  Fortunately, there are several ways to hide photos on your iPhone.  In this article, we will see the best ways to easily hide photos on iPhone.

The default Photos app will let you hide photos and videos right in the app.  Basically, it moves any photo or video you select to a hidden album.  This is great for photos you want to keep but don't want to see every time you open yours. Camera To roll.  You should also keep in mind that this hidden album is in the same place for everyone.  This means that anyone you allow to use your iPhone will be able to see those hidden photos in just a few taps.

When you hide a photo or video for the first time in the Photos app, it automatically creates a hidden album.  To hide your photos:

Open the Photos app.

Find the photo or video you want to hide.

tap on Share button    > Hide.

Confirm that you want to hide the image.

If you accidentally hid a photo or now want to move it back to your Camera Roll, you can unhide when:

Open the Photos app.

Tap Albums > Hidden.

Select the image you want to display.

tap on Share button    > Show.

## Lock Photos on iPhone Using Notes

Perhaps you were hoping for a way to password protect specific images.  Even though you can't do this in Photos, there is a workaround using the Notes app that lets you do this.  You can move a photo to a new note and add a password to the note.  Unfortunately, this only works for still images because you can't save live photos or videos in a note.

### How to    lock photos on iPhone using Notes

Before you can lock your photos in the Notes app, make sure you have the lock feature activated.  To enable password protection for your notes:

Open the Settings app.

Tap Notes > Password.

Set and verify the password you want to use for all notes.

when you have it feature enabled, you can start adding photos to a password protected note.  To lock a photo with a password:

Open the Photos app and find the image you want to lock.

Touch Share > Notes.

Select to save it to a new note or an existing note.

Tap Save.

In the Notes app, open the note with the image.

Touch Share > Lock Note.

Type your password.

Go back to the Photos app and delete the photo from your Camera To roll.

This last step is important because just copying your photos to a password-protected note still leaves it in your photo library.  So it's not really locked until you delete it from the Photos app.

### How to    access and save the photos you have blocked in Notes

Once you password protect your photos, it's so easy to view them or even save them back to your Camera To roll.  To access and save your locked photos in the Notes app:

Open the note where you saved your photo.

Tap View Note.

Enter your password to see all the photos you have on this note.

To move them back to your Camera Scroll, tap and hold an image.

Touch Share > Save image.

If you are using Google Photos on your iPhone, you will be happy to know that you can also hide your photos directly in this app.  You can use File feature to move a photo or video out of your library, similar to Hide feature in photos.

You can follow these steps to hide and archive a photo in Google Photo:

Open the app and tap the Photos tab.

Tap on the image you want to archive.

Then tap on the ellipses in the upper right corner.

Finally, tap Archive.

Once you've hidden a photo or video in Google Photos, if you want to move it back to your library, it's so easy to bring it back.  To unarchive an image:

Open Google Photos.

Tap the three lines at the top > Archive.

Select the image or video you want to unarchive.

Tap the ellipsis > Unarchive.
