## How to Improve Performance of Minecraft - Guide

Minecraft is one of the most popular games right now. This is especially true for kids and teens, as a good percentage of the player base is under 18. Although Minecraft is available on multiple platforms, the most popular place to play Minecraft is still on PC. We know that not everyone can afford a high-end gaming PC. While Minecraft can run on almost anything, some will inevitably experience performance issues. The difference between running a game and playing it can make a big difference to the overall game experience.

For gamers with low spec PCs and laptops, finding that a little extra performance can positively affect gameplay. In today's blog, we are going to share some tips and tricks to make your Minecraft game run a little better. Our overall goal will be to increase FPS and improve your Minecraft experience.

## Change game settings

The easiest and fastest way to accelerate up Minecraft is to lower or turn off game settings. Below are the settings you can turn off and lower to make the game run faster.

### Choose the standard package

Resource packs have been loaded into RAM which will slow down the game. So we recommend using the default package which can meet your basic need.

Click Options.

Click Resource Packs.

Click Default and click DONE.

Play the game to check.

### Lower video settings

Sophisticated video settings can make for good pictures, but they can also make your computer work with more things that slow down the game. So setting your game to low settings can make Minecraft run faster.

Click Options.

Click Video Settings.

Set graphics as fast.

Turn off Soft Lighting.

Turn off Anaglyph 3D.

Disable Use VSync.

Turn off flickering display.

Turn off the clouds.

Lower maximum frame rate.

Play the game to check.

### Change Minecraft game resolution

Lowering the resolution will make the game window smaller, but it can help to increase its performance.

Run Minecraft, click on the menu button at the top right corner.

Click Startup Options > Advanced Settings > Add New.

Add a name and click Resolution.

You can change the size as you like and click Save.

Back on the News tab, click the arrow button next to PLAY and choose the name you add.

Click PLAY to check it out.

### Turn off the sound in Minecraft

Sound is not a necessary part if you want to speed up up your Minecraft. While you might feel a little relaxed, it's an easy way to make Minecraft run faster.

Click Options.

Click Music and Sounds.

Turn it off.

Play the game to check.

## Optimizing your computer

In addition to changing game settings, you can optimize your computer for a better and faster gaming experience.

### Give Minecraft more RAM

RAM (Random Access Memory) is an internal memory that exchanges data directly with the CPU. RAM is like a temporary storage area between the CPU and the hard drive. The data that the CPU needs to access and the process will go through RAM. So when you run a game, the game is actually running in RAM. So, giving Minecraft more RAM can speed up the game. See how:

Check the installed memory by pressing the Windows logo key + the Pause key together. You will see how much RAM space you have.

Run Minecraft, click on the menu button at the top right corner.

Click Startup Options > Advanced Settings > Add New.

Add a name and click JVM arguments.

Change Xmx2G to Xmx4G. Xmx2G means Xmx 2 gigabytes of RAM, you can change 2 into 4 or 8 as you like. Then click Save.

Back on the News tab, click the arrow button next to PLAY and choose the name you add.

Click PLAY to check it out.

### Set Java as Priority

This method may not be very effective, but it's still worth a try. Java is important software for Minecraft. So give it enough space to run smoothly, it will help speed up up the Minecraft.

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc together to open Task Manager.

Click Details.

Right-click Java, choose Set Priority > High.

### Close unnecessary programs

Background programs can affect Minecraft's performance. Many programs consume valuable resources and slow down Minecraft's execution. You can open Task Manager to terminate these unnecessary programs.

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc together to open Task Manager.

Choose the program and click End Task.

### connect your laptop on a power source (eg. laptop of the user)

GPU and CPU need enough power to run fully. If the laptop battery is in a low state, many laptops will automatically speed up GPU and CPU and slow down Minecraft. For best gaming performance, make sure you have a full battery or plug in the power plug while playing.

### Install the latest drivers for your graphics card

Just like games, manufacturers keep releasing new drivers. Outdated or missing driver can cause problems. In order for your computer to function properly, it is also important to keep your drivers up Until the present date. There are two ways to update drivers.

Manually – You will need some computer skills and patience to update your drivers this way because you need to find exactly the right driver online, download it and install it step by step.

OR

Automatically (recommended) – This is the fastest and easiest option. Everything is done with just a few mouse clicks – easy even if you're new to computers.

If you don't have the time, patience or computer skills to update the driver manually, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy. Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it. You don't need to know exactly what system your computer is running, you don't need to risk downloading and installing the wrong driver, and you don't have to worry about making a mistake during installation. You can update your drivers automatically with the FREE or Pro version of Driver Easy. But with the Pro version, it only takes 2 clicks (and you get full support and a 30-day money-back guarantee):

Download and install Driver Easy.

Run Driver Easy and click Scan Now button. Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any faulty drivers.

click on update button next to the driver to automatically download and install the correct version of this driver (you can do this with the free version). Or click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of any missing or outdated drivers on your system (this requires the Pro version - you will be prompted to update when you click Update All).

### Consider upgrading your computer

If your computer is old and cannot meet the Minecraft minimum requirement, Minecraft will certainly run slowly. It is recommended to upgrade your computer to get a better gaming experience.
