## How to Install and Use VPN for Firestick/ Fire TV - Guide

The Amazon Fire TV Stick, Firestick, and Fire Cube are an easy and inexpensive way to turn any TV with an HDMI port into an internet-connected streaming device that provides access to tens of thousands of movies, TV shows, and other content.  Unfortunately, much of this streaming media content is geo-blocked, which means you will need to install a VPN on your Amazon Fire Stick to access your usual services when traveling abroad.

By encrypting all your internet traffic and routing it through an intermediary server at a location of your choosing, a virtual private network (VPN) can “spoof” your location so that it appears to the content provider that you are in a different country or region.  This allows you to watch geo-blocked content on streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, HBO, and many others.  Additionally, users running Kodi on their Amazon Fire TVs and Fire TV Sticks can hide the content and destination of internet traffic from snooping ISPs.

## How to    Install and use VPN for Firestick/Fire TV

There are two main ways to download a VPN on your Fire TV device: via the App Store or by directly downloading the APK file.  The method you use depends on whether the VPN you want to install is listed among the Fire TV apps.  Several VPNs, such as ExpressVPN and IPVanish, are available on their App Store, although only in certain countries;  other VPNs will need you to use the second method.

### Install a VPN from the Fire TV App Store

This method works with any VPN that has its app listed on the Fire TV and TV Stick App Store.

Go to Search your Fire TV or Fire TV Stick and enter the name of your VPN.  if not show up go to Method 2 below.

Click on the VPN app that appears and click on the Download button button.

When the download is complete, click Open to launch your VPN app.

Log in to your VPN app.

Select a US VPN location and click Connect.

If a VPN connection request comes upClick OK.

### Install the APK file of a VPN with direct download

This method works with any APK file that is not available on the Fire TV App Store.  If your VPN has an APK file available on its website, we recommend that you download it directly from the website and not from other websites.

Search for “Downloader” on your Fire TV or TV Stick

Click Downloader app and click download button.

When the download is complete, click open to launch the Downloader application.

Once the app is open, enter the direct download URL of the VPN APK file.  You'll usually find this on the VPN provider's Android app pages.

Download the APK file.  You should be prompted to install the app, but if not, you can go to the downloads section in the Downloader app and click on the APK file.

As the app was downloaded via another app i.e. Downloader, VPN will not show up in the Applications menu.  Instead, you will need

find it in Settings.

Go to Settings and then Applications.

Click on Manage installed apps and you will find your VPN app.

Click on the VPN app and select Launch app.

Log in to your VPN app.

Select a US VPN location and click Connect.
