## How to Install Windows 11 on Unsupported PC - Guide

Microsoft allows some unsupported computers to install and run developer previews, but these computers had to be registered to the Windows Insider program's dev channel ring before final June 24th to qualify.  If you haven't been able to register by then and your computer isn't supported, you won't be able to get Windows 11 previews (officially).  First, let's be clear: if you're on the fence, we don't recommend upgrading an unsupported PC to Windows 11. Windows 10 officially supports security updates through October 2025.

Windows 11 doesn't have great features that make it a mandatory update, and Microsoft warns that unsupported PCs can be buggy.  In fact, Microsoft warns that it may eventually stop providing security updates for unsupported PCs running Windows 11. However, if you're interested in running Windows 11 on unsupported hardware, we're here to help.

Whatever you do, we recommend supporting up your important data first.  It's always important to have a backup, especially when upgrading to a new OS – and especially if that new OS is not officially supported on your hardware.

This method involves setting up a lab-like environment, and you will need to make registry changes.  If this isn't something you're comfortable with, it's worth buying a Windows 11-compatible device or continuing to use Windows 10 until end of support in October 2025. But if you want to continue, here's what you want. you need to know.  Microsoft will allow device manufacturers to disable the TPM requirement in their version of Windows 11 – you will do the same here:

Go to the official Windows 11 download page to get the new OS now - there are three options to choose from.

Follow the step by step guide.

If it does not meet the hardware requirements, you will see a message saying 'This computer cannot run Windows 11'.

On this screen, press Shift + F10 to open the command prompt window.

Type 'regedit' and hit enter.

The Windows Registry Editor will now open.  In the address bar, type 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMSetup' and press enter.

You should now see a 'Setup' key.  Right-click and choose New > Key.

You will now be asked to give it a name.  Choose 'LabConfig' and hit enter.

Right-click the new key you created and choose New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Name it 'BypassTPMCheck' and set its data to 1.

Follow the same process for 'BypassRAMCheck' and 'BypassSecureBootCheck', with the same value of 1.

Close this window using the red X in the upper right corner.

Close the command prompt window by typing 'exit' and pressing enter.

Now you will get back to the 'This PC cannot run Windows 11' message.  click on the back button in the upper left corner.

You should now be able to complete the installation normally.
