## How to Lock Incognito Tabs with Face ID in Google Chrome for iPhone - Guide

Chrome's Incognito Mode is a great option if you want to visit sensitive websites without leaving any traces in your browsing history.  However, if you forget to close these tabs, there is a chance that someone will choose up your unlocked phone and get access to these incognito tabs.  To prevent this, the Google Chrome team is working on a new privacy feature for iOS users.  Chrome now lets you block incognito tabs using your iPhone's Face ID or Touch ID authentication in a new beta update.

According to the Google Chrome Beta for iOS 89 release notes, “You can add more security to your incognito tabs with Touch ID or Face ID.  When you return to the app, your incognito tabs will be edited until you confirm it is you.”  Once a user has enabled Face ID or Touch ID based blocking, Chrome for iOS will not let you open any incognito tabs without unlocking them first.  Once incognito mode is unlocked, you do not need to authenticate with Face or Touch ID until the browser is closed and reopened.

## How to    Enable Face ID Lock for Chrome Incognito Tabs

Open the Google Chrome browser on your iPhone and in the address bar at the top, enter the following address:

When the flags settings page opens, type "Device authentication for incognito" in the search box.

Now, in the drop-down menu next to the Device Authentication for Incognito Browsing option, select the "Enabled" option.

After making the changes, close the Chrome app on the iPhone and open it again and open the Chrome settings page by clicking the three dots icon in the lower right corner of the screen.

In Settings, go to the "Privacy" section and enable the "Block incognito tabs when closing Chrome" option and tap "Done".
