WhatsApp is working to add many features for your messaging platform.  One of the rumors recently features has just reached the beta version of its Android app.  The feature offers the ability to convert a six-second video into a GIF image and send it to the recipient.  While GIF support was first detected in the iOS beta a few months ago, it is now available in the Android beta, and the iOS version may be released soon.  Anyone interested in trying out the feature can sign up for the beta program and download the app from the Google Play Store.

While the option to share GIFs was always there now, you could only upload the ones you had already downloaded.  The new feature lets you capture a video of six seconds or less and convert it to GIF.  You can also convert existing videos from your gallery to GIFs.

GIFs consist of animated images that depict different emotions and messages.  On WhatsApp, you can send these GIFs to your friends and family and save them to your favorites for later use as well.  You can create your own GIFs or choose one of the available GIFs.

### Create your own GIFs on WhatsApp

Before we tell you How to create GIFs on WhatsApp, please note that you can only convert videos of six seconds or less to GIFs.  If the video is longer than six seconds, you will have to cut it to size.

Open WhatsApp on your iOS or Android smartphone, then open the chat window of the person or group you want to send a self-made GIF to.

In the chat box, click on the attachment option and select Gallery.

Now browse your gallery and find the video you want to create into a GIF.

Select the video and in the preview window reduce it to less than six seconds.

After the video is cut to size, a GIF button will show up just below the timeline.

After tapping the GIF button, the video will be converted to GIF.

You can add any text or caption to the GIF if you like and press send button button.

After pressing send button the short GIF would be sent to the selected contact.

The GIF will also be saved to your gallery, for future use.

### Send GIFs on WhatsApp for iPhone

Open WhatsApp on your iPhone.

Go to 'chats'.

Then click on a chat to send GIF.

Tap the '+' icon to the left of the text box.

Choose 'photo and video library'.

Now select 'GIF' in the lower left corner.

Select the GIF you want to send.

Now, you will see the option to add a caption.

Write the caption or send without caption.

Open WhatsApp on your Android phone.

Go to 'chats'.

Then click on a chat to send GIF.

Now, select the 'emoji face' icon next to the text box.

Tap 'GIF' at the bottom of the screen.

You will GIFs here.

Select the GIF you want to send.

Now, you will see the option to add a caption.

Write the caption or send without caption.
