## How to Manage Linked Devices in Signal - Guide

Signal app has become the most popular secure messaging app for people all over the world.  Did you know that you can link multiple devices to your Signal account?  Normally you install the application on your smartphone and use the registered number for communication.  Let's say later that you want to connect devices like your iPad or laptop signal.  So you can even send and receive the messages on these devices from your contacts.

The idea is simple.  You might not be holding your phone 24/7.  If you are working on your iPad or computer, you can easily receive messages in Signal directly on any of these devices.  This does not mean that you can access your Signal account from multiple devices at the same time.  You can do this on your primary smartphone that you signed on to up to Signal.  Otherwise, if you have your iPad or laptop connected, you can also view and send messages on it.

## How to    Signal link devices

Here it is how to link your devices in Signal.  To get started, you'll need to download and install Signal on both devices and open the app on each device.

On your Android phone, tap the three dots button and tap Settings.  You can also tap your profile to go to Settings.

Tap Linked Devices at the top.  You'll see No Device Linked if you haven't linked any devices yet.  To link your first device, tap the plus sign button in the lower right corner of the screen.

For iOS, tap Link New Devices.

This will launch a QR code scanner.  Now point your phonede camera on the QR code in the Signal Desktop client to scan the QR code.

On your mobile phone, you will be asked if you really want to link the device.  Tap the blue Link device checkmark under Link this device?  to approve the binding.

You will see an "Approved Device!"  notification if successful.

Once linked, your desktop will now be able to read all your chat messages and send messages on your behalf.

On the desktop, type your name in the space provided and click Finish Linking phone.

This will sync your contacts and groups and launch the app when done.

## How to    Unlink device on signal

To unlink a device in Signal, go to Settings on your mobile app and tap Linked devices.  Tap the linked device you want to remove.

Review the warning message and click OK.
