## Steps to Password Protect a Folder or File in Windows 11

Right-click on a file or folder you want **password** **protected**

click in **properties**

**Click** in Advanced…

Select “**Encrypt content to protect data**” and click Apply

If it's your first time using this feature you will be asked to go back up your encryption key, keep it somewhere safe;  you will need the encryption key to view your encrypted files or folders.
